Up, Up and Away
The Firefox 3.5 RC1 has arrived, which means that our friendly robot’s quest for Shiretoko is almost over. Appropriately, it’s a triumphant scene, with cherry blossoms raining down and the robot himself striking a Superman pose. Thanks to artist Josh Burcham for coming up with another cool illustration in the ongoing series.
On the technical side, this page also features 3.5’s new @font-face capabilities, serving up some slick comic booky text as real HTML text rather than a clunky graphic. The robot is happy about that, too.
Onward and upward!

I don’t have Firebug installed yet but it looks like text-shadow was used too.
Pretty cool stuff!
What does the future hold for the robot?

Ken, good question about the robot’s future. I have a feeling that he’s heading for the robot retirement village – it’s getting time for something new – but I also wouldn’t be surprised if he continues to occasionally pop up here and there.

A technical note: The background image (that one with the robot) should have a fallback background color, so that the text is also readable while the image is still loading, or when images are disabled altogether.

Robot retirement village ??? no way. The quest continues… this is my favorite illustration from the new series.
