Help Wanted: What’s the Next Awesome Thing?

I’m kicking around ideas for a project that shall currently remain nameless, and need a bit of your help. Yes, your help.

Specifically, what’s the next awesome thing? For example, at one point ninjas were frequently used as shorthand for awesomeness but are now a bit passé (even if they’re still pretty awesome).

With that in mind, I’m trying to figure out what the next thing will be. Please leave your awesome ideas (as many as you want) in the comments section. Thanks!

Hi John I’m Bruna from the Mozilla Community in Brazil.

Last weekend we were spreading firefox in an event called AnimeRS. We took some photos about people drawing things related to firefox: http://picasaweb.google.com/borgeek/AnimeRS#

You could to create new characters for the mozilla products like thunderbird (a man with wings), firefox (a girl with ears and tail), etc. People love that stuff (and so do I).

Well it’s just an idea :)

    Regards

You know I’m generally right on about this stuff. Here are my predictions:
    1) The new skinny jean = bell bottoms and wide leg (rave) jeans
    2) The new fixed gear bike = walking. Walking clubs complete with ironic NB walking shoes, etc.
    3) The new cupcake = TBD
    4) The new Brooklyn = TBD
    5) The new modular home = TBD

I also forsee an explosion of Harley Davidson riders. Hipsters can’t ride bikes forever.

More later. Gotta let this all marinate.

Insane miles per gallon (equivalent) ratings. In two years we’ve gone from 50 MPG, 134 MPGe, 230 MPGe, 367 MPGe, … The trick is to use a number ridiculously high with real mathematics behind it. It’s controversial but the numbers are going to be everywhere. Awesomebar: 942 miles per gallon* (estimated).

We talking internet-wise or pop culture wise?

I’ve (happily for me) seen a rise in dance in our culture thanks to shows like So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With The Stars.

Slang that’s used a lot on SYTYCD is “bucc” (some question on the spelling, but lil C says it all the time and it’s caught on).

Augmented reality. Phones with accelerometers and cameras on the back used to show you the world around you, but with annotations.

Google Sky Map for Android is a really great start. I had lots of fun with it on holiday in Cyprus this year (very clear skies).

I’m really interested in the “making Mozilla.com more dynamic” sprint; think it would add a lot of community to Mozilla.com, as well as encourage it on our various projects.
